Is it all one piece?
Yes, our border is one consecutive run of our enhanced concrete.
Will the curbing crack?
Concrete can naturally develop small cracks as part of its normal curing and settling process. However, several steps are taken to control and/or minimize cracking. These steps include:
-Proper ground preparation
-Putting mini-footers every 2 feet in the ground
-The use of type I-II Portland cement
-The use of Border Magic® proprietary additives.
-The use of fiber mesh in every mix
-Cutting control/expansion joints every 2 feet.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for your arrival?
We will need access to a water source (hose hook-up). You will need to have any and all subterranean objects marked. We are not responsible for contacting the utility department or identifying these objects (e.g. invisible fences, cable lines, sprinkler systems, etc.).
What about frost and ground movement?
A major benefit of our concrete edging is that as a continuous piece of concrete. Individual blocks or bricks will shift over time. Our concrete edging is reinforced with fiber mesh which is designed to take the place of rebar or steel and add strength to the concrete edging. We also take the extra step to place mini-footers during ground preparation. We drill into the ground 3 inches and place concrete in these holes prior to the border being extruded. This prevents excess heaving during those cold months.
How long does the process take?
Typically, we come out one day to prep the areas receiving border, then the installation will be done the next day. Depending on options and footage it may take longer.
Do I need to be home for the installation?
No, you do not need to be home at the time of installation. It will be like we were never there, except now you have the most amazing decorative landscape edging installed!
Will the color fade?
The color will change the most as the border hardens during the first 28 days after installation. After that there can be very slight color fade depending on how often it sees the sun. We recommend our Reseal Program (explained further below) to keep your Border looking its best.
What is your Reseal Program?
When we are on site & have completed your Border, we will seal the product. If you commit to the Reseal Program, we will come back out a year after we installed your border and give your edging a thorough inspection to make sure that there are no hidden problems, clean your border, and reseal your edging. When we are finished with this service your edging will look more vibrant. We then recommend having this performed every other year after that.
1. You are under no obligation to commit to the Reseal Program. It’s up to you.
2. It is $1 per ft of Border, along with a travel fee depending on how far you are from us. There is a minimum cost of $100 each time we reseal.
3. Even with everything stated in the "Will it crack?" section, it may still happen. If you have larger than a hairline crack, we will make a control joint cut along the crack while performing the reseal. This will stop it from affecting other areas of the Border.
4. You will get genuine Border Magic® sealers or reactivators applied.
5. Border Magic® is the strongest, most durable landscape edging you can buy.
